Rock Werchter, Sunday 4th July 2004
Report and photos by Tina
I went to Rock Werchter for 4 days. I knew I had to wait till day 4 to see Starsailor performing. 2 years ago they did a gig in the Piramid marquee, while on main stage Faithless was making the crowd crazy, but even then the marquee was crowded and enthusiastic.
Now it was the first time they performed at Rock Werchter on the main stage. Last time I saw them performing it was in Marconi Studio's in Brussels for Studio Brussel radio, a gig for only 200 people, so it was a big difference of what to expect today. The Werchter festival was sold out months in advance and there where about 70000 people.
Starsailor started at 14:05 as 3rd group of this Sunday. I'm sure some people did not arrive at the festival ground yet, but for those people it's really a pity, because they sure missed a great Starsailor performance.
I was standing front stage, so I was able to see from very near by. They played these songs :
- Poor Misguided Fool
Music Was Saved
- Four To The Floor
- Alcoholic
- Fidelity
- Some Of Us
- Tellin' Them
- Tie Up My Hands
- Silence Is Easy
- Good Souls
- Where The Streets Have No Name (James solo: U2 cover)
As always James talked to the audience in between the songs. Every time I see Starsailor performing I like them more and more. At 16.00h they had a autograph signing session, I was the first to enter there. They signed the play list and I was able to take some pictures, unfortunately my battery of my digital camera was empty, so I only have some pictures that I took with my mobile phone.
I also had the chance to talk to all of them, they where very friendly to me. There where a lot of people standing in row when they had to finish signing, so I think they were a bit disappointed.
I read already that a lot of people liked the gig a lot, and they all want too see Starsailor again soon. Me too, I can hardly wait to see them again at Rock in Haldern and Dranouter.
